Is it a lingering hangover from the champagne party after clinching the district title? The Atlanta Braves have collapsed in their last four games, scoring 43 runs in 33 innings.
Atlanta clinched the National League East title for the sixth straight year with a road win over the Philadelphia Phillies on April 15.
However, over the next four games, Atlanta lost four straight games in a deceptive fashion. First, Atlanta dropped all three games of a three-game series against the Miami Marlins from April 16-18.
The reason for the losses was a mound collapse. Atlanta gave up a whopping 36 runs in the three-game series. That’s an average of 12 runs per game. In game 18, they gave up a whopping 16 runs and went 2-16.
Atlanta was particularly embarrassed by Jazzy Chizom Jr. who hit back-to-back grand slams on the 17th and 18th.
Atlanta also lost 1-7 against Philadelphia on the 19th, their first game back at home. They allowed a whopping five home runs in that game.안전놀이터
Of course, Atlanta’s lead in the majors is still intact. But the gap, which was once more than five games, has shrunk considerably.
Atlanta is now 96-54 for a .640 winning percentage. They are two games behind the Baltimore Orioles in second place in the majors.
Atlanta will now look to snap a four-game losing streak on April 20 with Spencer Strider on the mound. It will be interesting to see if Atlanta can overcome their sudden slump.
