The professional basketball team Jeonju KCC has signed free agent (FA) Choi Jun-yong (29) to complete its national team lineup. KCC star Heo Woong (30), who will be playing alongside Choi for the first time since his professional debut, was more than happy to welcome him to the team.
Heo made a surprise appearance at Choi’s signing press conference at the KBL Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on April 22 and handed him a congratulatory bouquet.
Heo and Choi are seniors at Yonsei University. They played together in college, and although they played for different teams in the pros, they always supported each other and maintained a good relationship. They also played together in the national team and led the way in the national defense.
Heo played for Wonju DB before joining KCC as a free agent last year, while Choi Jun-yong played exclusively for Seoul SK after his debut before switching teams and donning the KCC jersey for the first time. This is the first time the two players have played for the same team in the pros.
“We were roommates in college, and the three of us were like brothers,” Heo said. When Jun-yong was at SK, we met on the national team and got along well. But it’s nice to be on the same team and spend five years together. I think we can have fun playing basketball.”
In addition to his basketball skills, Choi is also a strong showman. Choi’s quirky comments and behaviors can help boost team morale, but sometimes they can also backfire. KCC head coach Jeon Chang-jin wanted Heo to help him adjust in the middle.
“I think he meant to ask me to play the middle role well because Junyong might stray a little bit,” Heo laughed, “Actually, Junyong is more like a fox, so he’ll do well on his own. I think the director said it as a joke. No worries,” he said.
He continued, “If you’ve ever lived with him outside of basketball, you’ll know how gentle and kind he is. I’m just looking forward to playing on the same team.”
With the addition of Choi, KCC 메이저사이트 quickly became the No. 0 favorite to win the title. Heo Woong, Lee Seung-hyun, and Ragan-ah are joined by Choi Jun-yong, and Song Kyo-chang will return from military service in November. It’s an ultra-luxury squad that doesn’t look like anything out of the South. It could be considered a national team lineup.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get the chance to play on a team with these players in my career,” said Heo Woong, “They’re the best. I think it’s fair to say they’re the national team. Opponents will be afraid of us.” He expressed his confidence.
He continued, “Jun Yong-i will be a plus in everything. He has the presence of a foreign player,” and “He has a personality that gets along well with seniors and juniors outside of basketball. He’s an atmosphere maker. I’m looking forward to the upcoming season.”
