Gwangju City announced today that Heo Jun, a member of the City Hall Fencing Team, won a bronze individual medal and a silver team medal at the 2023 Asian Fencing Championships.

Heo, who is a coach 안전놀이터 and a member of the Gwangju City Hall Fencing Team, competed as a member of the Korean Men’s National Team at the 2023 Asian Fencing Championships in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China, from July 17-22.

He won a bronze medal in the individual men’s foil event and a silver medal with the team in the men’s foil event, finishing behind Japan.

“I would like to thank the fencing team for their excellent performance at the Asian Games and beyond, and I will continue to provide active support for the athletes,” said Gwangju City Mayor Bang Se-hwan.

Meanwhile, the Gwangju City Government fencing team consists of a total of six athletes, including three national athletes, and is active in various international and domestic competitions.
