Arsenal are also monitoring the situation of Kim Min-jae.
Kim is enjoying one of his best seasons at Napoli. In his debut season in 2022-23, Kim quickly established himself as the first-choice center-back and was trusted by Luciano Spalletti to lead Napoli to great heights. In the end, Napoli clinched the title early with five league games remaining and won their first Scudetto in 33 years.
At the center of Napoli’s rise was Kim Min-jae. With his natural physicality, steady defense, and build-up play, Kim quickly became an integral part of the Napoli defense. He was even nominated for the league’s best player this season.
Since the beginning of the season, the Red Devils have been keeping a close eye on Kim, sending scouts to Napoli, and have recently been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United. On the 15th (Korean time), Italian media outlet Il Matino reported, “Kim Min-jae has agreed to join Man United. “The club is already in talks with the player and brokers have convinced him to move to the English Premier League (EPL),” the Italian outlet reported.
United tried to lure Kim with an increased salary. Along with this, United reportedly offered an amount that far exceeded Kim’s buyout 스포츠토토 clause in order to perfect the deal with Napoli. Kim’s buyout clause is valid from July 1 to 15, when the summer transfer window opens, and is worth 45 million euros ($64 billion), but according to British media outlet The Sun, United will offer £56 million ($91.5 billion) for Kim.
While United are getting closer and closer to Kim Min-jae, there are many other clubs looking for him, including Manchester City. According to Manchester City News, “City are one of the clubs monitoring Kim’s situation at Napoli and are looking to offer him a new contract. They could pay a transfer fee of up to 60 million euros ($85.4 billion) for Kim this summer.”
In addition to Man United and Man City, Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are also reportedly on the list of interested parties. Given his lower-than-expected buyout and quality, Kim could be one of the hottest center backs in Europe this summer.
And Arsenal are paying attention. “Arsenal are one of the clubs keeping tabs on Kim Min-jae, who was sensational in his first season at Napoli and was one of the biggest reasons why Napoli won the Serie A title,” according to British outlet 90min.
“Arsenal’s Rob Holding is likely to leave the club ahead of next season, with manager Mikel Arteta looking at Kim Min-Jae as his replacement,” the outlet continued. Holding showed incredible potential when he joined the Gunners in 2016, but a serious knee injury has sidelined him for an extended period of time and his performances have been heavily criticized.” While Arsenal have not yet been linked with Kim as heavily as other clubs, the fact that they are interested in him shows how popular the defender is.
