The victory was lost, but the glasses ace shined

Despite the loss, the ‘Glasses Ace’ Park Se-woong (Lotte) shined. The ace of the Hangzhou Asian Games team proved to be a force to be reckoned with.

Park threw a no-decision in 6⅔ innings with three hits, two walks and two strikeouts against Samsung Electronics in Daegu on Nov. 11.

After striking out Kim Ji-chan, Kim Hyun-joon, and Jose Pirela in the first inning, Park gave up a leadoff single to Kang Min-ho in the second, but retired Oh Jae-il (swinging strikeout), Kim Tae-gun (straight to the second baseman), and Lee Jae-hyun 메이저사이트 (swinging strikeout).

After retiring Ryu Seung-min and Kim Ho-jae on infield grounders in the third inning, Park gave up a double to right-center to Kim Ji-chan two batters later, but he got Kim Hyun-joon to fly out to end the inning.

In the fourth inning, Park struck out Samsung’s cleanup trio of Pirela, Kang Min-ho, and Oh Jae-il. Two batters later in the fifth, Ryu Seung-min reached on an error, but Kim Ho-jae induced a foul fly to first base.

After giving up an infield single to Kim Hyun-joon with the bases loaded in the sixth, Park got Pirela and Kang Min-ho back on base with a double and an infield fly, respectively. In the bottom of the seventh, Park gave up back-to-back singles to Lee Jae-hyun and pinch-hitter Kim Dong-yeop.

Park came off the mound with the winning pitch, but reliever Koo Seung-min gave up a walk to pinch-hitter Kim Jae-sung to load the bases. He was followed by an RBI double to Kim Ji-chan. The 2-2 game was tied. With that, Park’s victory was over.

Lotte lost to Samsung 4-6 in 10 extra innings. However, Park showed what it means to be an ace with five consecutive quality starts.
