Kim Eun-joong, head coach of the South Korea U-20 national soccer team, has called for a must-win game against Honduras.
South Korea will face Honduras in their second Group F match at the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2023 at the Mendoza Stadium in Argentina on June 26 at 6 a.m. ET.
South Korea, who recorded their first win of the tournament with a 2-1 victory over powerhouse France in the first round, can advance to the round of 16 with a win over Honduras. Honduras lost 1-2 to the ‘African Warriors’ Gambia in their last match. A loss would virtually guarantee their elimination, so they will be going all out against South Korea.
South Korea will be playing in just three 안전놀이터 days, and there are still concerns about their fitness. In their last match against France, they showed signs of struggling towards the end.
“In the first game, we struggled with various things, including physical strength, but with the win, the players’ fatigue decreased a lot and they seem to be recovering quickly,” Kim Eun-joong told the Korea Football Association (KFA) on Sept. 25, a day before the game. “There are some players who didn’t play, but I think they are always well prepared because they don’t know when they will play,” he wrote.
“Basically, they have good physical condition and individual ability,” he said of Honduras, “and we’re trying to figure out how to play them.”
The starting lineup for the match against France will be almost the same. “There won’t be any major changes to the lineup against France,” Kim said, “We won the first game, but that’s already in the past. We will prepare thoroughly and achieve the desired result as much as possible.”
